Tacoma Tonneau Cover: Roll-Up Options by Year and Bed
Tacoma covers split at 2016 and at 2024, then by a 5 ft or 6 ft bed. Then comes the Tacoma-only question: the deck rails. Some covers keep them. Some take parts off for good. Check that before you check anything else.

The short version
For a 2016-2023 Tacoma, the Tyger T1 titled 5 ft (60 in) and the Gator ETX titled 6 ft 2 in (73.7 in) both come with sheets we could read. For 2024-2026, Tyger's titles say they only fit models with the factory deck rail system. For 2005-2015, Tyger's 6 ft title is the pick.

Deck rails come first
The Tacoma's deck rail system changes what a cover has to clamp to. RealTruck's own write-up sorts it by cover type. For 2016-current trucks, BAK hard folding and roll-up covers mean taking the deck rails off for the install and putting them back with drop brackets. TruXedo soft and hard roll-ups "install some large brackets into the deck rail system", so the rails and bulkhead tie-downs stay, while the cleats still slide but less. Retrax and GatorTrax need the bulkhead tie-downs removed permanently.
Tyger's sheets add a note for Nissan and Toyota trucks with a factory utility track rail: the clamp instructions for that setup are attached separately. If yours has the rail, look for that sheet in the box. And Tyger's 2024-2026 titles go further: "Only Fits Models with Factory Deck Rail System". If your truck has no such rail, those two covers are not stated for it.
5 ft or 6 ft
Toyota lists the Double Cab with a 5 or 6 ft bed and the Access Cab with a 6 ft bed in its 2023 brochure, at 60.5 and 73.7 inches. For 2026, Toyota says Double Cab and XtraCab, with 5 or 6 ft beds, and the XtraCab on SR, SR5 and TRD PreRunner.
Sellers round those numbers in different ways. Tyger's 2016-2023 short bed title says 5 ft (60 in). Gator says 5 ft 1 in. On the long bed, Gator ETX says 6 ft 2 in (73.7 in), an unbranded title says 6 ft. Tyger's 2005-2015 long bed says 6 ft (74 in). MOSTPLUS says 72 inches for the older truck. If a number looks off, measure your bed and ask the seller.

Tyger T1 (2016-2023 Tacoma, 5 ft)
Soft roll-up cover whose listing title reads: 2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma | 5' (60") Bed | TG-BC1T9044.
Fits, according to the listing (maker's sheet read)
2016-2023 Toyota Tacoma | 5' (60") Bed | TG-BC1T9044 (read November 3, 2026)
Check your exact year and bed length on the listing before you buy.
Why here: Title names years, bed and part number, and the maker's sheet is readable. Buy it if you have the short bed on that body. Skip it if your Tacoma is a 2024 or has the 6 ft bed.
Why buy it
- The part number in the title ties the listing to Tyger's own sheet
- That sheet uses clamps, a ratchet with a 10mm socket and a Phillips screwdriver, with no drilling step
- The sheet covers crossbars, the latch gap and a tension plate for adjusting the fit
Why skip it
- Over-the-rail bed liner: the sheet says small 2 x 4 inch holes must be cut in the liner
- Vinyl cover; no weight rating appears on the sheet
- Style
- Soft roll-up
- Material
- Soft vinyl
- Install
- Clamp-on, per maker sheet
- Price class
- Mid-range
Want something other than vinyl? The hard roll-up guide covers the slats, and the Rough Country hard cover on the 2024-2026 page is titled for a 5 ft bed.
What owners ask
What bed lengths does the Tacoma come in?
Toyota's 2023 brochure lists Access Cab with a 6 ft bed and Double Cab with a 5 or 6 ft bed, at 60.5 and 73.7 inches. Toyota says the 2026 comes as Double Cab or XtraCab, with 5 or 6 ft beds.
Do I have to remove my Tacoma deck rails?
It depends on the cover. RealTruck says its BAK hard covers need the rails off temporarily, TruXedo covers use brackets in the rails, and Retrax or GatorTrax covers need the bulkhead tie-downs removed permanently.
Does a 2023 Tacoma cover fit a 2024?
The titles we read do not span that break. Tyger, Rough Country and TruXedo all sell separate listings for 2016-2023 and 2024-2026. Buy the listing that names your year.
My 5 ft bed is called 5 ft 1 in. Is that the same?
Gator titles a 2016-2023 Tacoma bed as 5 ft 1 in, Tyger as 5 ft (60 in), and Toyota lists 60.5 inches. They point at the short bed. Match the inches and check the title of the cover you buy.
