RamBox and Split Tailgate: Which Ram Covers Rule Them Out
If your Ram has a RamBox or the Multi-Function split tailgate, you are buying a different cover from most people. Gator's title rules out both. MOSTPLUS titles rule out the RamBox. Tyger and BAK titles say nothing, and silence is not a yes.

Do not assume a roll-up cover fits a RamBox or a split tailgate. Gator's 6 ft 4 in title says it will not fit either. MOSTPLUS titles say Without Rambox or No RamBox. Tyger, TruXedo and BAK titles we read do not mention them. Ask the seller to confirm your exact setup in writing before you buy.

The table tells you one thing clearly: nobody in our data says a roll-up fits a RamBox. Two sellers say theirs does not, and the rest say nothing. So the safe assumption is that your truck needs a seller's confirmation, whichever cover you pick.

If you have a RamBox or a split tailgate
Ask the seller these before you pay:
- Does this cover fit a Ram 1500 of my year with RamBox? With the Multi-Function tailgate?
- Which part of the cover changes for those? Rails, clamps or seal?
- Can you send the installation sheet for this setup?
- What is your return policy if it does not fit?
If a seller will not answer in writing, move on. A Ram dealer is the other place to ask, since the truck maker's accessory shop shows up high for this search. We could not read their pages, so we have nothing to quote from them.
How to confirm which you have
A RamBox is a set of lidded bins built into the bed sides. A split tailgate is one that also opens in two halves. Both are easy to spot in person, and worth checking on a used truck that came without a window sticker. We have no current Ram document, so we cannot give you a list of which trims came with what.
The mistake to avoid
The mistake is reading "Ram 1500" and the year and stopping there. Silence in a title reflects what the seller wrote, not what the cover does. Why the wording matters so much here
Most fit questions on this site come down to a number you can check with a tape. These two do not. A RamBox or a split tailgate is a yes or a no, and no measurement helps. So the words in the title, and the seller's reply, are all you have.
That also means a return is more likely here than on a plain bed. Before you pay, check the return terms on the listing. And hold off on anything you cannot undo, like cutting a liner, until the cover has been held up to the truck. Look at where the rails land on the bed sides. Look at how the cover ends meet the tailgate. If either looks wrong, stop and contact the seller while the cover is still returnable.
What owners ask
Why would a RamBox change the fit?
Maker documents do not explain it in the sources we read. A RamBox puts storage bins into the bed sides, per Stellantis's release on it. So a rail that clamps to a plain bed side may have nowhere to land. Treat that as our reading, and ask.
Are there covers made for RamBox beds?
We did not find a roll-up title that names RamBox as included. AI answers mention Mopar covers for it, but we could not read a Mopar document. Ask a Ram dealer as well as the seller.
What about the Multi-Function tailgate?
Gator's title rules it out. No other title we read mentions it. If yours opens in a split, ask about the rear seal and the latch area, since a cover has to work with whichever tailgate you have.
